Kimmie started her trialing career at the young age of four years old with a dog called Spanky. Spanky was actually the same dog Lindy started her trialing career with. Spanky was wonderful with the kids, had no training just a good solid fetch and a stop (sort of). This dog taught both Lindy and Kimmie how to negotiate obstacles and panels by just being in the right place and the use of a stop. This taught both Kimmie and Lindy excellent stockmanship. Learning to train came with their own dogs, hand picked by them.

Kimmie picked her own dog by taking on a dog that I had chosen to keep for myself. For whatever reason she and Windi II bonded and that was it for me. Kimmie worked with Windi through the summer of 1993 in order to have her ready to trial by the Cayucos Cup. Kimmie trialed Windi to her STD sheep titled that year. Kimmie was seven, Windi was about eighteen months.

Kimmie and Windi had a number of successful trialing years, going High Score Junior 20 times.  They were very competitive in ASCA garnering a number of year end Junior Handler awards with Kimmie being awarded ASCA’s Above and Beyond Junior Award.  With my job and her interest in volleyball she was unable to go to as many trials as she would have liked. She only made it to one National where she with Windi was the High In Trial Junior. . Windi a remarkable junior’s dog complete with Aussie heart, character, and style. All Aussie.

Kimmie enjoyed the trialing but first and foremost she enjoyed her dog, hauling her around with her first by bicycle and horseback, then 110 motor bike (Windi rode on the back), then ATV, now vehicle. Kimmie is in her second year of college, works for a Vet and is living away from home but close enough to help me with my Stockdog training business. She is quite ambitious but not sure in which direction to take her ambitions. Windi at 14 years is still with us and still enjoys loading up and going with Kimmie when she comes home.
